Omeo Kumar Das, one of the great patriots of Assam, passed away at the age of 81. He selflessly worked for the tea plantation workers and made efforts to get them better living standards. He translated Gandhiji's autobiography ""My Experiments with Truth"" in Assamese language.

He was known for his patriotism and zeal for constructive work and was a forceful and emotional orator and debater and an eminent writer in Assamese litrature. He was also a musician and composed good number of patriotic poems and songs.
6/4/1902Richard Allen, India, field hockey goal tender (Olympic-gold-1928), was born.
