The organization is formed with the goal to provide a platform for physicians of South Asian origin to gather for educational, recreational, social and philanthropic purposes.Even though the term "Indian Origin" is mentioned in the name of the organization, it also encompasses physicians from the entire Indian Sub-continent geographic region. The term "Physician" includes those trained in the allopathic, osteopathic, naturopathic, and ayurvedic disciplines among others. The name of the organization shall be the Association of Los Angeles Physicians of Indian Origin and shall also be known as ALAPIO
ALAPIO is organized for scientific, educational, cultural and charitable purposes to:Conduct seminars and other educational programs to acquaint members of new scientific developments in the field of medicine and associated disciplines.Support and foster the availability of medical assistance to indigent people in the Local Communities , through the organization and execution of a free, volunteer physician , service and referral base.Make contributions to organizations that qualify as exempt organizations under Section 501(c) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 or the corresponding provision of any future United States Internal Revenue Law.Provide mutual understanding and cooperation between this organization and other medical societies in the United States and India.Provide other member services as needed.
