I do not know if you know LA very well or you are one of those who just move here without knowing. i just joined the site and saw your question and felt the urgent need to clarify something many people make a mistake of when moving to LA. Downtown Los Angeles (DTLA) is not like other downtowns of other cities. It is not the hub or the center of LA. It has the financial district and its getting revived again but still it is not the hub or has any family feel to it. There are sketchy areas and parts of LA around there which are dangerous. If youre work is around Monterey park then Silver Lake is probably the best school district around or suburban areas like Glendale and Burbank have many Indian families around and good schools too. Silver Lake is more hip and yuppie kind. Glendale and Burbank are more family oriented and overall nice.Good luck with your find.
